* Somerset Ampang

I have never stayed in a serviced residence and Somerset Ampang is my first. We booked a 4D/3N stay there and decided to make it a time of family gathering. I also brought some office work to do and thought it would be bonus if I could get that completed as well.
Somerset Ampang is located at Jalan Ampang and that's where many foreign embassies are. In fact the British High Commission is just next door. The Ampang Park LRT and Ampang Park Shopping Mall are a mere 10 minutes walk away. The management do provide 1-way shuttle van service to KLCC and the Pavillion Shopping Mall a few times a day.
Parking is free if you are driving but only for the first car. We had three cars there and had to pay RM10/car/day for the extra 2 cars.
The lobby lounge has a contemporary setting. The lobby floor which is also the ground floor is sandwiched between the parking floors (B1,B2,B3 and L1, L2 and L3)
Newspapers are available at the lobby lounge. They are also sent to the apartments every morning.
This is the hallway to our apartment.
This is the entrance area of the apartment.
The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with built-in kitchen cabinets , air-conds and ceiling fans. There are 2 TVs with a variety of channels to choose from. Usage of internet is also complimentary.
This is the bedroom. It looks very much like the ones in most hotels.
The first TV is in the sitting room and the second one in the bedroom.
The feature I like best about the apartment is the closet. You actually have one whole room of storage space.
Quite a number of facilities is provided. Safety-box, iron and ironing board, hair-dryer and laundry service (pay-service)  too upon request.
Adding to the list of things provided are bathrobes, bedroom sandals, umbrella & laundry basket.
Even though our apartment is called a 1-Room Apartment, there are actually 2 rooms. This smaller room comes with a single bed, a working table and its own closet. Since there were 4 of us, we added 1 more bed which was placed in the sitting area.
There is only one washroom in the entire apartment. The washroom is not very spacious but equipped with towels, toiletries and very basic bath amenities.
The washroom is very clean. The management actually provides housekeeping service everyday.
The shower and bathtub is partitioned from the toilet and wash area.
The apartment comes with a well equipped kitchen.
There's a washing machine and an empty fridge.
Everything in this fridge is mine, brought from home I mean.
All these are mine too.
Only these are complimentary.
Non-stick pots and pan, plates and a steel colander are available.
Knives and cooking ladles are provided.
Cutleries are provided.
These kitchen gadgets are also provided.
If you plan to do some light cooking you don't have to worry about bringing these too.
And these...are available.
There's an induction stove.
There's a microwave oven.
There is also an electric jug and a bread toaster.
Came up with a very simple breakfast; my perfectly-done half-boiled eggs and buns.
A sponge and liquid detergent are also provided. You may have to bring your own detergent as the one given is too diluted.
This is the view taken from our apartment.
The swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi is located on the 22nd floor. Since this is the highest floor, you can get a good view of KL from here.
There is a separate washroom for men and women each with only 3 cubicles. Bath towels are also provided. Since there is no staff to attend to you on this entire floor, most of the service is "Help-It-Yourself" service.
The baby pool is on the opposite end.
Adjacent to the pool is the gym.
There is a lounge on the 22nd floor just beside the pool and gym. It is a spacious lounge equipped with reading materials, and a TV. Hot and cold drinking water is available here.
Photo shows another section of the Residence Lounge on the 22nd floor.
Ampang is famous for Yong Tow Foo and this restaurant is reputed to be one of the best offering this dish. Since our apartment is not too far away we took the opportunity to come here to savour this local delicacy.
It is still cheap to eat here. The Yong Tow Foo priced at 90cents per piece is cheaper than in many other parts of the Klang Valley. No regrets coming here at all as the Yong Tow Foo tasted great. We ordered 50 pc, way too much and had to "Ta Pau" some back to the apartment.

Overall, staying here is a great experience. The only complaint is about trainee staffs at the front desk who are not knowledgeably competent and gave out contradicting information on a few occasion.
