If you are planning to visit the administrative capital of Malaysia, Putrajaya Shangri-La is a good hotel to stay in. I was rather surprised by the low rate charged for a hotel with a 5-star status so I would give it a good rating as far as value-for-money is concerned.
The hotel is located in a tranquil part of Putrajaya making it a good getaway from the hustle of city living.
This is the main facade of the hotel. As soon as you enter, you'll see the reception lobby.
The hotel is a four-storey building built with very stylish, contemporary design. It is built on a hilly terrain and out of the four floors, 3 of them are actually ground floors (meaning can walk out to the ground)
This is a picture of the reception counter taken from the 4th floor (highest floor). Notice the unique architecture involved.
When we arrived there was no bell-boy to help carry our luggage. Instead there was this trainee (girl from China) trying to help us with our bags. I found this a little unusual though.

This is how the hotel looks like from the inside. The airiness and spaciousness is really commendable.
This is the other facade of the hotel. It opens out to a quiet public road and a public park where you can go jogging, etc.
We stayed on the highest floor (4th floor). Room Type: Double Deluxe Park View
The room design is quite impressive.
This room comes with a king-sized bed.
Room facilities include a TV, a mini bar, a safety box, and coffee/tea facilities.
2 bottles of mineral water and a few sachets of coffee and tea are complimentary. Other items are chargeable.
There is also a complimentary fruit platter which we enjoyed as all the fruits are sweet.
Provided too are bathrobes and bedroom slippers.
There is a sliding door that partitions the room from the washroom.
The washroom is quite sophisticated in design.
There is a bathtub.
& a separate shower cubicle.
and nicely packaged bath amenities
The room opens out to an ordinary looking balcony which commands a good view of Putrajaya.
This is the park as viewed from our room balcony.
This is Seri Perdana, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. This photo is also taken from our room balcony.
There is a beautiful infinity-edge swimming pool in the hotel.
The pool is only 1.2 meter deep. In addition, there is the children's pool just beside this pool.
Between 6-7pm everyday, cocktail and snacks will be served. (complimentary from the hotel). Instead of wine you can also opt for other beverages.
This is a sunset view from the pool.
This photo of Putrajaya skyline is also taken at the pool area.
The hotel has a well equipped gym.
Other hotel facilities include a warm water jacuzzi , steam bath and sauna. Hotel guests can use them for free.
There are facilities like lockers, toiletries and bath amenities in the jacuzzi area.
This building houses all the massage rooms. Spa service is a pay service.
This is the entrance into a massage room.
There is an indoor park in the hotel premise (on the first floor)
The main restaurant is the Palm Hill Cafe. We had breakfast here. Even though there were not many patrons during our stay, there was a wide spread of breakfast cuisines.
The unique feature about this hotel is the existence of many lounges. The Relaxation Lounge, located just next to the pool area is my favourite lounge. There is piped-in relaxing music and lots of reading materials here.
This is the the main lobby lounge. Its beauty is enhanced by the myriads of lamps hanging above it.
This is another smaller lobby lounge.
There are lounges on every floor.
This is the gym lounge.
Notice the very beautiful batik design above the glass wall.
Overall, I like this hotel. My only complaint is the over zealous security personnel who trailed us with his eyes from the lobby area to the 4th floor as though we were some sort of suspects. This matter has been brought to the attention of the CEO of Shangri-La and hopefully you will not encounter this, should you choose to stay here.
nice post. despite your stay had been more than 6 years ago, i had decided to stay in the hotel (now called pulse grande hotel) after reading your review :)
