Intercontinental Hotel KL which was formerly Nikko Hotel is located along Jalan Ampang. About 10 minutes' walk away are the KLCC Park, Aquaria KLCC, Suria KLCC and the pride of Malaysia,"The Petronas Twin Tower"
(KLCC=Kuala Lumpur City Centre).
Barely 100 meters away is the LRT station.
This hotel offers great service and good food and I think it is a fine hotel, suitable for leisure or business travelers.
The hotel has 473 spaciously-designed rooms and suite.
This is the entrance into the hotel.
This temporary reception area is confined to a cubicle. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and a lobby makeover. If you come here after May 2012, you'll probably see something different.
This is the passageway with the lifts. For security, you will need your room key to access the floor where your room is located.
We booked a "Club Room" which is a room that comes with "extras". The room is located on the 26th floor and it comes with a personalised check-in and check-out service, which means we do not check-in at the lobby reception. Instead we checked-in at the Club Lounge which is also located on the 26th floor. We have the privilege of checking out later too (3pm instead of the normal 12pm).
Checking-in was done here and it was hassle-free. There were a few very eager staffs waiting to attend to us. (It's worthwhile paying extra for the service, see?)
Snacks like cookies, preserved fruits and cheese cakes are replenished all the time.
There is a TV to watch.
There are newspapers, magazines and books to read.
There is complimentary high-speed wireless broadband. Also available in the club lounge are 2 computers with internet access.
From 3-5pm there is complimentary high-tea. The scones were superbly done. The sandwiches were excellent and so were the other items served.
What a better way to spend a leisurely evening than to savor these and enjoy KL city view from the 26th floor.
From 6-8pm there is complimentary pre-dinner cocktail. You can have your choice of fine wines and beers.
There was a fair spread of cocktail snacks.
Actually I am quite fussy with food but I certainly enjoyed everything served here. Thumbs-up for the chef. I will surely be coming back again.
There is also a fair spread of desserts.
Japanese sushi and Californian Rolls were also served upon request. (All these are complimentary)
After taking a bit of so many things, we were full and skipped dinner.
This is our room. The club room measuring 451 sq ft is relatively spacious.
This is the entrance area.
It is fully carpeted and we opted for 2 twin beds.
There is a comfortable couch, a contemporary looking lamp and wall decor.
There is a working table with a comfortable chair and reading light.
The closet is equipped with bath-robes, electric iron & ironing board. By the way for club room guests there is complimentary pressing or laundry up to six pieces and 25% discount on all laundry services.
There is also a safety box, bedroom sandals, umbrella, a coat brush and complimentary shopping bag.
There is an expresso maker...
& complimentary coffee and tea sachets.
There is a mini-bar and "all" the items inside are complimentary for club room guests.
The washroom is spacious and clean and comes with a separate shower cubicle.
There is also a bath-tub.
These are the bath amenities provided. Overall I am very happy with the room and the facilities it offers.
This is KL city view taken from our room on the 26th floor.
There is a swimming pool on the 5th floor.
This place was tended by very courteous staffs.
The swimming pool area is very well landscaped. There are palm trees and coconut trees here and it feels like you are on the ground floor.
There is also a big and well equipped gym on the 5th floor.
Also available is the Spa.
There are six F&B outlets in the hotel. This is the Japanese Restaurant.
This is the Chinese Restaurant.
This is the Lobby Lounge.
This is the main and the biggest restaurant in the hotel. It is called Serena Brasserie. We had breakfast here, and once again I was delighted with the the breakfast cuisines.
Fresh fruit juices were served, alongside other beverages.
There was congee and dim sum.
There was fish teriyaki.
There was the french loaf slices with delicious tuna topping.
This fried kway teow noodles doesn't look good but tasted great.
There was the mix-it-yourself salad.
There was a variety of pastries and cakes.
There were miso soup with korean kim chi and condiments.
I tasted most of the food served and 80-90% are above average.
There was a variety of biscuits and cheese.
There was a variety of cereals and fresh milk..
Yogurts, fresh fruits and canned fruits...and lots more, Malaysian, Indian, and western cuisines.
You can opt to eat in the open veranda area,
and enjoy looking at fish in the aquarium.
There is a beautiful garden beside Serena Brasserie. You can see it from the glass wall as it is cordoned off and hence out of bound.
This garden can also be viewed from the upper floors of the hotel.
I love the room and the food most in this hotel. The staffs are also well trained and offered excellent service. I would recommend "The Club Room" which comes with the extras if you choose to stay here.
