A Short Visit to Kuala Kubu Bharu

Since The North South Expressway was built many years ago, Kuala Kubu Bharu has practically been bypassed and forgotten by many. Tourists on their way to Fraser's Hill may however drop by this little town as the junction of the road leading up the hill is just a short distance away. We were getting a little bored in Rawang (we were given one night free stay in a hotel there) so we decided to drive to Kuala Kubu Bharu.
Scenery on the trunk road from Rawang just before reaching the town.
Kuala Kubu Bharu town is about 80 years old.
Except for a few eateries, commercial activities are seemingly sluggish here.
One of the older buildings in the town.
A former cinema which has been turned into a snooker centre.
The market
The bus station
St Paul Catholic Church
Quite a popular bakery among visitors.
Teng Wun Bakery at No 15, Jalan Dato Muda Jaafar is just a modest bakery selling cup cakes, swiss rolls and kaya puffs. We bought some and tastewise they are quite nice.
There are government offices and a small park at the entrance of the town. The nearby attractions include the Selangor River Dam about 6km away and Fraser's Hill about 40km away.
