Phuket travel Part 17: Thai Massage For 200 Baht.

The massage trade is definitely a big money earner for Thailand's economy. Never in any other parts of the world have I seen so many massage parlors and masseuses, some even seen plying their trade along the beaches.
Because of the abundance of such parlors, the massage trade has become very competitive which is of course to the advantage of its customers. While we will need to fork out on the average 800-1000 baht for 1 hour of Thai or oil massage in Malaysia, you only need to pay 200-400 baht for the same service in Phuket (& also in other parts of Thailand).
You can get a massage in almost any nook and corner in Patong Beach.
A number of massage parlors also operates from the basement floor of Jungceylon Shopping Mall.
While most parlors do foot, head, shoulder and body massages, there are a couple in Jungceylon Mall that specializes in facial massage. This particular one was having a promotion - 299 baht for a facial massage.
Business was apparently brisk.
Besides a variety of massages, some also offer fish spa. Benches are provided for customers to sit while they dip their feet into pools of water with garra rufa fish.
This particular one has gained notoriety through its erotic massages and added flesh trade.
This one called "Onbeach Relax Massage" is just a few steps from where I stayed. It is located at Patong Tower Codominium Road and one which I randomly chose to have a massage.
For a starter, the feet will be washed with tamarind paste.
This is the ground floor where foot reflexology is done. The body massages are conducted on the upper floor.  Besides the convenience, I find this parlor cosy, clean, private & cheap.
I only paid 200 baht for a Thai Massage here.
