Actually I am not in a position to talk about hotels or accommodation in Kolkata, as I am really new to the city. I was supposed to stay in Hotel Hindustani International but there was last minutes changes and I ended staying in The Pride Hotel, New Town, Kolkata. I'll just do a little review of the hotel.
The pros of staying in The Pride Hotel is it is a relatively new hotel being launched only in 2012. Its proximity to the airport (only 7 km away) and its location away from the congestion and pollution of the city center gives it extra plus points.
There are however some disadvantages staying here. It is quite far from the city centre (18km away) and its location in a non happening area makes it a bit dull if you are one who loves shopping or window shopping.
The nearest shopping mall is Axis Mall, a 15 minutes walk away. There are a few restaurants, a food court and a few retail outlets in this mall.

Another nearby mall is Big Bazaar. There is only 1 restaurant in this area and it was closed when we visited it.
It is easy to get cabs as these taxis are always stationed outside the hotel.

The reception Counter - reception service was satisfactory.
The Pride Hotel is a 4 Star hotel with a total of 153 rooms.

Ceiling lamps and decor.
The hallway on the 6th floor.
We stayed in a deluxe room on the 6th floor.
The room is well appointed with comfortable bed and pillows.
Coffee and tea making facilities and a mini bar are available. Complimentary items include a few sachets of beverages and mineral water.

The washroom with a see-through glass wall.
The washroom is clean and comes with a hair dryer, water heater, bathrobes and bath amenities.
Our room is just opposite the Lounge Bar but it wasn't noisy and we did get a good sleep.

The main restaurant in the hotel is located on the lobby floor. Cafe Treat serves pretty good food.
We dined here a few times and found the food delectable.

That's in deed a genuine review from you Lily :) Hope the hotel options are pretty awesome, I felt the same while making a stay in the Arayaburi Boutique Resort while vacationing on the turquoise beaches of Ko Samui.
