Bali Attractions: Tasting Kopi Luwak, The Most Expensive Coffee In The World.
A visit to the Kopi Luwak farm is a must for me as I am a coffee lover. Furthermore Kopi luwak is something unheard of in Malaysia.
The farm we visited is at Susut Bangli.
Kopi Luwak is made from Civet poop. It is branded as the most expensive coffee in the world probably because the civet cat is an endangered animal and a few species are facing extinction.
The civet will digest the coffee berries and pass out poops that look like this.
This is how the coffee looks like after it is washed.
The washed coffee will be roasted.
Photo shows the roasted coffee beans.
We had to pay IDR 50,000 (appprox RM 16 or USD 5) for a small cup of kopi luwak. It tastes different (hard to describe) but not nice or special enough to warrant the purchase of another cup.
Sampling of other types of coffee and beverages is complimentary.
This farm grows and sells fruits too. Photo shows a tamarilo plant.
