Even before arriving at Crown Regency Prince Resort, we were aware from previous guests' reviews that this hotel is strict about guests staining their bed sheets. What we didn't know was we would be made to sign an agreement to settle a fine should the bed sheet get stained even before checking-in. The few types of stains specified were henna, ink and sun lotion stains but the monetary fine quoted was excessive and did not commensurate with the actual price of the bed sheet or so we thought.
To date we have stayed in a couple of hundred hotels but never have we been made to sign such a weird agreement.
Our initial encounter with Crown Regency Prince was definitely not 'Love At First Sight'. Even though we became a little obsessed about the stains initially, taking care not to apply sun block lotion near the bed and not leaving ball pens on the bed, we grew to appreciate the hotel at the end of our 7 nights stay. Below is our unbiased review of this hotel.
The Location
Crown Regency Prince Resort is conveniently located at the intersection of the Main Road and Bulabog Road at Boat Station 1. One facade faces the main road and White Beach while the other faces a village and Bulabog Beach even though the beaches are not visible from the hotel. The location can be considered excellent as it takes only 3 minutes to walk to White Beach, 4-5 minutes to D'Mall, 10 minutes to Bulabog Beach and 20 minutes to Mount Luho. It is also feasible to walk to Diniwid Beach and D'Talipapa. In fact the entire stretch of White Beach can easily be explored on foot from this location. There are hundreds of eateries within a 500 metres' radius around the hotel. Taking public transport is a breeze as motorized tricycles constantly ply the road in front. Staying here saved us a lot of money on transportation as we could walk to many major attractions around.
The Service
The receptionists speak good English and are very helpful even though they are not excessively friendly. The concierge service was more than satisfactory. A security guard is always stationed at the hotel entrance to open the door for its guests. Housekeeping service is on a daily basis and bottled water, etc are diligently replenished.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel is serviced by an elevator.
There is a cozy lounge on the reception floor.
There is a 24 hour supermarket at the basement floor.
There is just 1 restaurant on the lobby floor but we didn't dine here as there are plenty of food options just outside the hotel.
The Accommodation
The hallway to the rooms is clean and brightly lit.
We stayed in a deluxe room that sleeps three.
Room facilities include a shared bedside table, reading lamp, telephone, TV, a working table, a safety box and ample storage space for the luggage and belonging.
There is an air-conditioner as well as a ceiling fan, a balcony with clothes rail, coffee and tea making facilities. WiFi, bottled water, sachets of coffee and tea are complimentary.
The room is not very big but spacious enough to move about comfortably.
The washroom has a separate shower cubicle with a functional water heater. Sufficient bath amenities are provided. My only complain is the sink top is not spacious enough to put all the toiletries.
View From Our Room
We stayed in a room that faces the village. This is a better option as it is quieter and ensured better sleep quality.
We could hear the roosters crowing every morning.
Standing at the balcony, we could also see kite boarding activities from Bulabog Beach.
Kites flying at Bulabog Beach.
The Path To White Beach
Just opposite the hotel is a small walking path to White Beach. It commence at Palawan Pawnshop.
Along the path, you can see eateries and a couple of inns.
It takes less than 3 minutes to reach White Beach.
Path To Bulabog Beach And
Mount Luho
Bulabog Road which runs through the side of the hotel will take you to Bulabog Beach. The walking time is just less than 10 minutes. This road adjoins another road at the beach which leads to Mount Luho.
Facilities @ Sister Hotel
Crown Regency Prince does not have its own swimming pool but its guests are allowed to use the facilities in Crown Regency Beach Resort which is a sister hotel.
Crown Regency Beach Resort is located along White Beach at Station 3. This is quite far away from Crown Regency Prince Resort but it is still feasible to walk there.
