Staying In Queenstown

From Auckland, we flew into Queenstown to start the second chapter of our NZ travel. Queenstown is specially chosen as our base to travel around because it is near to the airport and is central to the places that we wanted to see. Though memories of it was vague from a previous visit, I still have some inkling of its charm and beauty.
And I was right. Queenstown is still as enchanting as it used to be. It has all the attributes of an ideal vacation town and I am sure I've made the right choice to stay there.
This is a glimpse of the magnificent panorama you get in Queenstown. The scenery is simply overwhelming no matter where you stand to look at it.
Our flight from Auckland to Queenstown took a little less than 2 hours. The first thing we did at Frankton Airport was to rent a car. We wanted a small car as there were just two of us but the only ones available were big cc cars. We were offered a Holden Trax SUV, a brand known as Chevrolet back home. To our pleasant surprise the car is very new and sporty too. It didn't take long before Ronnie got over the initial fumbling driving a car he has never driven before and travelling on roads that is so foreign to him. The airport is just 7km from Queenstown.
Our accommodation called Coronet View Apartments and B&B is just about 1 km from the hub of Queenstown.  Walking to town is not a problem but getting back can be tiring as the accommodation is perched on a hill and the road leading to it is very steep. Fortunately we didn't need to worry about this as our car took us to almost anywhere we wanted to go.
On the positive side, the property offers an astounding vista of the town below.
.....and lovely sunset views.
Because it is supposed to be a relaxing holiday we prefer to put up in only one hotel and make day trips from there. This will save us the trouble of checking-in and checking out, unpacking and repacking our stuffs. For the entire duration of our travel in South Island, we stayed in Coronet View.
The accommodation is spread over a few detached premises. There are apartments with cooking facilities and room-only room. Our is the latter which means we will have to eat out the entire duration of our stay.
We were happy with the room. Even though it does not come with a kitchenette, there are facilities that make us very glad. There is ample space to walk around, ample storage space for our things, ample power points, ample hangers, a heated bed, a mini fridge, a TV, a hair dryer, and even an electric iron and board.

There are water boiling facilities, complimentary coffee, tea and milk.
It gets very cold sometimes but the separate heater in the washroom helps and the heated towel rack was a real welcome.
We were given one whole big bottle of shampoo, a lot of handwash and sufficient soap. The only downside is the accommodation does not provide daily housekeeping service.
Entry into the hallway leading to the room is via a number code for added security.
There is sufficient car park for vehicles and parking is complimentary.

There is a garden overlooking some great views.
There is no restaurant but the proprietor takes order for English breakfast. There is a coin operated launderette too.
Now that we have settled in we just have to pray for good weather as Queenstown and its suburbs are known to be very wet with a probability of 30% rain throughout the year.
