A Taste Of Latin American, Caribbean and Mexican In Queenstown

It is easy to find food with an array of multi-cultural flavours in Queenstown. Tired of Western, we would go Asian but sometimes the palette yearns for something less familiar. In our quest for such flavours we came across Caribe Latin Kitchen.
I came to know about this restaurant through reviews from bloggers who have dined there. It serves Latin American, Caribbean and Mexican food which are not very familiar flavours back home.
Caribe Latin Kitchen is located at 36, Ballarat Street which is right in the hub of Queenstown. My first impression of this small restaurant was "Wow, I really like this place".
It is a very vibrant looking restaurant with interesting posters and pictures displayed all over the walls. One row of colourful flags is hung across the hall just below the ceiling and the walls are painted with colours and designs that are commendably vivacious.
Simple furniture is made attractive with a creative blend of colours.

Even the washroom is creatively done up.
The myriad of 'artistic' display will certainly keep your boredom at bay if you need to wait for your food to be ready.

What We Ate
The quesadilla is a savoury mixture of melted cheese, special sauce and your choice of filling in a toasted flour tortilla. We chose shredded chicken & tomato sofrito filling. (Price: NZ$13.50)
The burritos are seasoned beans, fresh salad, rice and guacamole with your choice of filling wrapped in a flour tortilla. We chose beef burritos. (Price: NZ$10.90)
The tacos are  soft or hard shell corn tortilla with beans, pico e gallo, salad & caribe sauce. We opted for fish tacos. (Price:NZ$10)
Caribe Latin Kitchen offers a variety of tapas (meaning appetizers or snacks). We tried its Picante Chicken Wings. (Price: NZ $9.00)
The Nachos are corn chips made from tortillas. We opted for its Queso which has a lot of melted Cheese, Caribe Sauce, sour cream and jalapños. (Price: NZ$8.00).

The quesadilla and burrito were excellent, the tacos were good, the chicken wings average and the Queso was a little too rich for our liking. Anyway dining here was quite an unforgettable experience. I have learnt a thing or two about Latin American, Caribbean and Mexican cuisines even though I still can't pronounce 'quesadilla' correctly.
