Bali Attractions: A Visit To Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bali. It is actually a huge natural rock protruding into the sea which over the years has been artistically shaped by the ocean tides into a spectacular structure. The Balinese being religious people steeped in Hinduism started to built a temple on it and called it Pura Tanah Lot.
A fee of IDR 30,000/person has to be paid to enter the Tanah Lot area.
One thing not many people know is over one third of Tanah Lot's rock is actually cleverly disguised rock. Restoration of the rock had to be done due to an imminent danger as the rock's facade was starting to crumble.
This is a closer view of the rock.
There are other gigantic rocks in the same vicinity.
This is another beautiful and natural formation called Batu Bolong. A temple is also built on this rock.(called Pura Batu Bolong)
Tanah Lot has become very commercialised. Taking advantage of the big influx of tourists, many shops selling  various types of goods and souvenirs and restaurants are set up in the area leading to Tanah Lot.

Beautiful paddy fields seen in Canggu,  on our journey to Tanah Lot.
