Muay Thai or Thai boxing is the national sport of Thailand. I am no fan of this kind of martial art but I thought I'll just have a peep inside the stadium since I passed by this place each time I visited the market.
Bangla Boxing Stadium is just opposite Banzaan Fresh Market. The building is unique and something not easily missed.
This stadium organizes kickboxing championship and attracts competitors from all over the world. I just wanted to have a peep and the proprietor of the stadium was kind enough to allow me in.
Tickets for the matches are sold for 1700-2500 baht.
The whole town will know when a match is on and who the contenders are as a lot of promotion is done from a truck with loud-hailer.
The nationalities of the competitors are probably represented by the flags on the moving truck.
The stadium is all lighted up when matches are on. These matches are conducted only at night.
Thaiboxing shorts are readily available on roadside stalls.
