The best way to get a bird's eye view of Gangtok is going for a cable car ride at Gangtok Ropeway.
We started our ride from the Deorali Station but you can opt to start from two other stations. The fare is Rs70 per person (approx RM3.50).
This cable car seats a maximum of 24 but we were sheer lucky as there were just the two of us.

The return cable car ride lasted 20 minutes and this was one of the best things I've done in Gangtok.
It felt like a bird soaring over vehicles and rooftops.
Looking beyond we saw rice terraces and deep valleys.
Further beyond were the Himalayan Ranges.
Our cable car stopped at Nam-Nang Station. We could either alight or proceed to the last station.
Our cable car reached the last station which was just above the Legislative State Assembly building.
The third and also highest station is at Tarshiling. Since our ticket is a 2-way ticket, we happily enjoyed our ride back to Deorali.
This was Gangtok beauty well captured in a meaningful cable car ride.
