Where To Stay In Hatyai?

If you are looking for a hotel with easy access to food and transport, the best location would be within the yellow rectangle on the map above as this is the most happening area in Hatyai City.
All the places in the square area are also within walking distance and you can save on transport each time you want to look for food, go shopping or even get a Thai massage.
For this trip, I'd wanted to stay in Centara Hotel but it was fully booked so I opted for a relatively new budget hotel - The Colour Hotel which is located slightly out of the yellow rectangle.

The Colour Hotel: Review And Photos
The Colour Hotel is located on the quiet Chontara Road which is just a 10 minutes walk to Lee Garden Plaza and other happening areas. It is a 5 storey hotel with 76 rooms and a lift.
Hotel Entrance and Lobby
The reception staff was courteous and spoke understandable English. I had to deposit my international passport at the reception, something I felt a little uneasy about. [Anyway it was safely returned when I checked out the following day].
There is an internet corner, but no F&B outlet in this hotel.
The deluxe room is quite spacious. It is clean but the earlier hotel guests have left behind a stale stench and I had to call the housekeeping staff to spray air freshener.
The facilities available include a flat screen TV, free WIFI and 2 bottles of mineral water.
Also provided are a safety box and a closet with hangers.
A mini-bar with chargeable items.
Cleanliness in the washroom is satisfactory with a water heater that works quite well.
The facilities provided are not too bad considering this is just a budget hotel.

The Convenience:
It just takes 10 minutes to walk to the city centre. This is Sanaehanusorn Road which is bustling with a vibrant night life.
Open air food court beside Lee Garden Plaza
There are a number of restaurants, open-air food courts, and roadside food vendors, night markets and supermarkets  within the yellow rectangle area.
Look out for roadside vendors selling the roasted coconut juice which has a very pleasant fragrance.
This street vendor sells exceptionally huge prawns.
There are a number of shopping malls in this area but if you wish to go further, there's this public transport called tuk-tuk which will be able to ferry you. [starting fare is 20baht/person depending on distance]
Big C and Central Festival . The Mermaid photo is taken at Central Festival (biggest mall in Hatyai)
These are places you'll need public transport to go to from the city centre.
At Talad Sod Market
There are a number of market you can visit in Hatyai. Kim Yong Market is within the city centre but the largest is Praza Market which will need public transport to get to from where I stay.
