Ripleys Believe It Or Not, Gold Coast: Review & Photos

There are many indoor attractions in Gold Coast, most of which are concentrated in Surfers Paradise. These are pay activities which serve as boredom busters for some and as good fun alternatives when the weather turns awry for others. Among the many available, we were quite curious to see the display in 'Ripleys Believe It Or Not' which also happens to be among the more popular attractions around. We settled for this even though the weather was just fine that evening.
Located at Soul Boardwalk, Caville Mall, Ripleys Believe It Or Not Odditorium is open 365 days a year from 9am till late at night. The entrance which is also where the ticketing counter is, is an attention-catcher indeed with a display of weird  figurines and a reverberation of heart pounding, upbeat music. An adult ticket purchased from the counter here costs AUD24.90.  We got ours for AUD22.90pp from a tour booth nearby. (price is subject to changes)
This odditorium features 400 exhibits and artifacts and patrons are required to do a self-guided tour around.
The tallest, the thinnest, the ugliest, the fattest, the abnormal and the rare are exhibited here in the form of exact-size replicas, photos or graphics. The story of unbelievable feats and achievement are also featured in this odditorium.
Every figurine, picture  or artifact is followed by a self-explanatory write-up. For example, the picture on the LHS is Mike the chicken of Colorado, USA which lived for 18 months without a head. The picture on the right is Joseph Steinlauf posing with his functional bicycle which he made from parts of a bed headboard. He also made bicycles from parts of a sewing machine.
Figurine of Roman Emperor, Vitellius who spends $375,000 a day on food alone, feasting on exotic food like nightingale tongue, camel's feet, livers of parrot fish, etc.

There are artifacts on display but the collection could have been more impressive.
LHS: Replica of a woman with the longest neck.
RHS: A very unusual coffin

There is also an interactive section with things like this mirror that distorts.
and a tunnel that turns the world giddy....
And graphics that transform...
Hey, I'm going to test drive the world's smallest car!
Ripley's Believe It Or Not is quite a nice indoor attraction but the admission fee is a little steep which I opine is not value enough for money. Even though we tried not to miss each detail exhibited here, we finished our self-guided tour in less than an hour. About 85% of the things displayed are not really new to us as we've seen them on TV and other media. If the admission fee is brought down to say AUD 15, I would recommend this as a good boredom buster in Gold Coast but for this fee it's something one should reconsider patronizing.
