*Westin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Westin Hotel is strategically located along the busy Jalan Bukit Bintang in the midst of KL's business and shopping district (The Golden Triangle District). Its immediate access to major shopping malls, restaurants and public transport like the taxis and the monorail certainly gives it added value points when making a hotel choice. For first timers to KL, this is a place where you can best experience the vibrant city night life as it is a favorite hang-out for foreigners & locals alike.
Directly opposite it is Pavilion Mall. Just beside it is JW Marriot Hotel and Starhill, a high-end shopping mall. A few steps away is the 'Bintang Walk' and barely 100 meters away is where you find more shopping malls, shops and eateries.
This is the hotel lobby. The setting is simple but the reception staffs are quite friendly.  During the short duration of our stay, the service rendered is commendable.
Iced lemon water is placed at the lobby for guests to "help themselves" as they checked-in.
There is not much grandeur in the hotel decor. Simple but pretty floral art arrangement like this are displayed here and there around the lobby area.
The hotel lounge is half a level below the hotel lobby.
Our booking agent made a mistake. We were supposed to stay in an "Executive Club Room" which comes with the extras like access to club room facilities, free cocktail, private check-in and late check-outs but what was booked for us was the "Executive Residence" which did not come with the extras I just mentioned. We stayed on the 12th floor and access to our residence is via a different lift.
The Executive Residence we checked in is a one room fully serviced apartment which is a good choice if you plan a lengthy stay as it is fully furnished and has all the amenities of a home.
There is a fully furnished kitchen..
I especially love the big & spacious counter top.
Hot plates, microwave oven, electric jug, bread toaster, cooking utensils, coffee and tea pots, cutleries and other gadgets are provided in the residence.
The items in the fridge are not complimentary.
Neither are the items on the RHS. The items on the LHS are brought from home.
There is even a shoe rack in the residence.
There are 2 TVs, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom.
The sitting room is furnished with  comfortable sofas.
There is a small study room, equipped with shelves, a study table, wired internet access, and a sofa.
There is a covered balcony with floor to ceiling see-through window.
Annexed to the sitting room is the bedroom.
There is a dressing table and another flat TV here. This apartment is trendy and comes with a creative architectural design.
The closet is equipped with iron and board, bedroom sandals and a safety box.
There is only one washroom though.
There is a separate shower cubicle.
There is a bath-tub & bathrobes...
These are the toiletries provided.
Newspapers are complimentary and delivered to the room in the morning. Usage of internet is also free but parking isn't. The rate is RM8 per day.
The 4th floor is the recreation floor. There is a nice gym equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment for hotel guests.
Users of the gym can help themselves to towels, cold water and apples.
Usage of the kids' room is however not free. The rate is RM20 per hour.
This is the hotel swimming pool as viewed from our apartment.
This is the kids' pool.
These ice-cream or rather iced-sticks are complimentary for pool users.
This is "Splash", the F&B outlet beside the gym and swimming pool. You can have leisurely snacks or casual lunch and dinner here.
We took our breakfast at "The Living Room" which is one of the 6 F&B outlets in the hotel.
There is a wide variety of breakfast cuisines and the food stations are spread out along the entire perimeter of the restaurant.
This is an exciting food station serving many types of patisserie.
What I have here is nasi dagang and a variety of pickles.
I requested for an extra thin waffle and it is done to perfection. Superbly tasty.
Smoked salmon & salad, omelette & hot-dog.
The mee soto was yummy too.
The weekend spent in Westin KL is a pleasant one. I have also stayed in a number of hotels within the same area. Do check out my other posts.
