See Chiang Mai On A Walking Tour

This is the view of Chiang Mai taken from our Airasia flight as we were approaching the city. A good way to get to know this Land Of Smiles is to do a walking tour.
There are over 300 temples in the city with some dating back to the 13th century. You will inevitably bump into them as they are found at every nook and corner.

A walk around the Old City is a meaningful thing to do. Distinguished by a rectangular moat surrounding it, the old city is full of history. There are many heritage monuments, buildings and temples within the confines of the moat.

This is one of the four main gates of the Old City.
This is Katam Corner, one of the four corners of the moat.

Many new shopping malls have  sprung up since my last visit.
Pantip Plaza
You can walk for miles and not feel the distance as there are so many things to see along the way.

songthaew - a common mode of public transport in Thailand
flower market - Wororot
wished I had spent an extra day or two here as there are lots more that I'd wanted to explore. Guess that will have to wait... till my next trip.
