Bali Attractions: Sunset Dinner At Lia Cafe, Jimbaran Beach

Jimbaran Beach is famous among other things, for its seafood and sunset view. There are dozens of seafood restaurants lined up along the beachfront and  making a clever choice can be  like playing a game of chance. If you've rented a car with a driver, chances are the driver will recommend you to one where he'll make some commission out of your rather hefty bill. Whatever it is do ask to see the menu and pricing before settling for one.
I have chosen to dine at Lia Cafe after reading some good reviews from people who have been there.
Lia Cafe is not altogether easy to find as it is located at the end of a curved dead-end road (Jalan Pemelisan Agung is curved L-shaped). As it is not very visible from the T-junction, many drivers will turn right into Jalan Pantai Kedonganan where most other seafood restaurants are located instead. The illustration below may be helpful.
This short road will lead you to a dead end. The 2nd last restaurant is Lia Cafe.
Lia Cafe is hardly impressive. In fact its signboard is inferior to that of the neighbouring restaurants.
The inside is rather dark, totally devoid of ambiance or style but none would sit inside and dine.
Fresh seafood are displayed outside, waiting to be barbequed.
The other facade of the restaurant faces the sea.
Tables are set up on the beach with chairs arranged to face the sea. All other restaurants do the same thing each distinguished by different colored table cloths.
We opted for the package meal with fixed price as we did not want to get a rude shock after the meal.
The salad looked like it was not hygienically prepared and the soup way below average. We left them uneaten. At this point we almost regretted dining at Lia Cafe.
The seafood platter that came however saved our day
There were 8 large clams.
Half a red snapper, 2 BBQ potatoes,
8 large prawns.
2 average sized crabs.
 A plate of vegetables.
Savoury mouth-watering sambal and garlic and white rice to go with the seafood. We  each got a coconut in exchange for the soft drink.
As it got darker, candles were placed on the tables.
While dining we watched the sunset. It was raining earlier on and dark clouds still loomed beyond the horizon.
The sun turned fiery red as it made its exit.
When the sun finally disappeared from view, the sky lit up like fire.
We dined for two and a half hours, enjoying the incessant sea breeze and the sunset which would have been more mesmerizing had it not been for the earlier rain. The seafood was great too. For two of us, we paid IDR 253,000 (approx RM80 or USD26) inclusive of a 10% tax which was very reasonable.
The dining experience was worthwhile. You do not need to specifically dine in Lia Cafe, as the neighbouring restaurants served more or less the same menu and I believe at more or less the same price. Their food should be OK judging from the contented look on the diners' faces.

I've been surfing online more than three hours today, but I never found any interesting article like
yours. It's pretty price enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made
good content as you probably did, the net shall be a lot more useful than ever before.
