After the camel ride, we visited Crescent Lake, a 2000 year old oasis that was almost swallowed by the desert. The lake is surrounded by Echoing Sand Dune on all sides and was in danger of disappearing until the government stepped in to save it.
Crescent Lake is a fresh water spring in the shape of a half moon. It was shrinking due to desertification in the region before the government began to refill it. This area is arid and barely gets any rain each year.
Adjacent to the lake is a traditional pagoda.
