Mazar Village was another interesting place we visited. This is an ancient Uighur village with a history of more than 2000 years. The village is dusty and quite run down with minimal vegetation. It is remote and looked quite deserted.
An entrance fee of 30CNY/person has to be paid to enter the village.
Walking along the village path we passed by vacant houses and buildings, some of which have been ruined or semi-ruined.
I was in for a surprise when a resident walked out of one of the houses. Apparently there are about 65 households with a total population of 370 still residing in this village.
I saw a woman washing clothes by a tiny stream that meanders through the village.
In this home a woman was seen carrying her baby out of a traditional -looking baby cot.
Even though the residents stay in humble homes with just the barest necessities, the doors often stand out as many come in vibrant colors or beautifully carved designs.
Among the buildings, the mosque stood out the most with pillars and minarets that towered tall.
