Apps Hotel Kuala Selangor: Review And Photos

We were putting up a night in Kuala Selangor and have decided on Apps Hotel for a few apparent reasons. This hotel is the newest in town and it is near to places of interest to us.
Apps Hotel is a four-storey hotel that merges with a long row of shop houses. It is quite strategically located along Federal Road 5. Coming from the direction of KL, it is not too far after crossing the Kuala Selangor Bridge. Giant Kuala Selangor Mall should be a good landmark as the hotel is diagonally opposite this hypermart. (Only some 500 metres away)
The setting is rather unique. There is a covered open-air food court between the 2 adjacent hotel blocks. Available here are a few food kiosks selling Indian Muslim, Chinese and Thai food. The entrance to the hotel is mid-way through this food court.
The reception lobby, lounge and ballroom are on the same floor. Reception service is satisfactory.
We stayed in a Superior Twin room (No 1100) on the first floor. This air-cond. room is narrow and the beds are small but it is equipped with quite good facilities.
There is a safety box and a mini bar.
There is a flat-screened TV but only with national TV channels. The cupboard is narrow but there are sufficient electric sockets.
Available are an electric jug and 2 glasses; there are no cups, spoons or free sachets of tea/coffee.
Also provided: hair dryer, alarm clock and telephone
The washroom is small but clean. It is fitted with an electric heater that functions well.
It comes with a separate shower cubicle.
The toiletries provided are better than expected. Also provided free are 2 bottles of mineral water and daily newspapers. Wifi is not available in the room but it is available and complimentary at the lobby.
There is a pub and a steamboat restaurant on the topmost floor. The hotel does provide spa, jacuzzi and reflexology services to interested patrons. Breakfast does not come with the room though.
The hotel operates boat tours to the firefly sanctuary and also to view the eagles from its own private jetty. Selangor River actually runs behind the hotel and the jetty is just a short walking distance away.

This is the published rate during my stay. I only paid RM99 instead of RM158.00 for the Superior Twin Room. Cheaper rates can always be obtained from booking agents.

The Pros:
-0.5km to Giant hypermart
-1.5 km to Pasir Penambang (where you get to eat and buy seafood home)
-1.5 km to town centre, Bukit Malawati
- it is new and clean
- facilities available is not bad

The Cons:
- Open-air parking at your own risk
- Breakfast not provided
- Wifi not available in the room
