China Silk Road Travel Part 9: Glimpses Of Turpan (Xinjiang)

We left Urumqi and headed for Turpan, some 200km away.  There is a stark contrast between these two cities. While Urumqi is robust and developed, Turpan being very hot and arid, is less populated, more laid back and a lot duller. With a history dating back a few thousand years however, it does offer attractions for visitors like us.
suburb of Turpan - a stall selling naan bread
small shops in the outskirt
 A sparsely populated city
A place we stopped for lunch
A common means of transport.
A public bus in town
A park
town area
residential apartments

a town school
