Balkan Travel Pt 8: [North Macedonia] Ohrid Photo Gallery

This was the response by my Macedonian tour guide when I told her I like Skopje very much. "If you think Skopje is nice wait till you visit Ohrid".
I finally got to visit Ohrid, walked its streets, visited its market, hung out at its lake shore square, stared into its shimmering blue lake and even dined in its restaurant. Having done that I came to a conclusion that I still prefer Skopje. I believe that's the reason why the prose “Beauty Lies In The Eyes Of The Beholder",a paraphrase which was first used by an author called Margaret Wolfe Hungerford' holds true and is ever popular.
Putting my personal preference aside, Ohrid as a whole is a serene and charming city and there is actually a lot to Ohrid which makes it deserving of a visit. According to archaeological surveys, Ohrid is one of Europe’s oldest human settlements. Its main attraction, Lake Ohrid which is said to be more than 3 million years old is the oldest and one of the deepest (288 meters) lakes in Europe. The city's historical setting is well preserved and both Ohrid and its lake have earned a spot in the list of 'Cultural and Natural UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Ohrid was the second and also the last Macedonian city I visited for this Balkan trip.
