Marquis Hotel Motel, Hobart: Review And Photos

I stayed at Marquis Hotel Motel for 2 nights over the weekends towards the end of my holidays in Tasmania. This hotel was chosen even though it is located slightly away from Hobart's CBD because the weekend rates for hotels in the CBD area are higher in comparison. The location didn't matter as by that time, I had visited the major attractions around Hobart and all I needed was a comfortable place to sleep.
Marquis Hotel Motel is located at the corner of Brisbane Street and Hill Street which happens to be the elevated part of these undulating streets. By virtue of its location, it commands very beautiful views of the surrounding areas.
The reception area
Some of the facilities in the hotel include a gaming room and a bar/restaurant where meals are available at reasonable prices.
The hotel is split level. The reception, bar, restaurant and gaming room are located on the lower floor while all accommodation rooms are located on the upper floor. There are a few direct exits from the accommodation rooms to the car park/ hotel exterior. (see photo below)
Car park at same level as the rooms.
Our 'Double Room' is quite cozy and it is equipped with a heater and a fan but no air-conditioner.
I particularly like the big closet where we could store away all the luggage.
There is an en suite bathroom and toilet while the sink is placed outside in the bedroom area. Cleanliness is satsfactory.
Room facilities includes a hairdryer, coffee and tea maker, a small fridge and basic toiletries. Coffee sachets were replenished the next day but the shampoo wasn't. WIFI is available and it is free.
Another feature I like is a proper place to sit and dine.
There is a restaurant called Paesano that cooks up great tasting food near the hotel. We frequented this place for our meals.
Paesano's delicious pizza
Paesano's tasty spaghetti
There is also a multi-purpose store nearby.
Taking a walk around the hotel, you get to see great views.
The residential houses in the hotel vicinity have pretty gardens.

The setbacks:
Checking-in and checking-out at odd hours can be a problem for this hotel as the reception counter is not open during such hours. When we checked-out at 7am there was no staff at the reception counter. We couldn't even access the lower floor where the reception is so we left the room keys in our room and just checked-out on our own.
Getting a taxi very early in the morning is also a problem here. To avoid this, prior booking by phone has to be made through the taxi-booking centre.

Some accommodation details:
Address: 209 Brisbane Street
Room Type: Double Room
Room Rate: RM304.50 nett/night (breakfast not included)
