After spending a couple of days in Cappadocia, and soaking in all its mind blowing attractions we headed back to Istanbul. This 1300 km journey will take about 14 hours of non stop driving which wasn't that viable so we stopped overnight at Bolu. Turkey is a huge country and to see its major attractions across the various provinces, you either fly or travel long distances along the road. Ours was the latter mode of transport which may be boring and draining to some but visually enlightening to me as traversing a long stretch of the land, I get to see the changing topography and even the weather.
It got a lot colder as we journeyed through the woods of Bolu Province. We finally reached Buyuk Abant Hotel which we put up for the night before continuing our journey to Istanbul the following day. This hotel is located at 1327 m above sea level, is surrounded by mountains and pine forests and even though it was spring during my visit, the hotel ground was covered with thick snow. At the edge of the hotel is the charming Lake Agant, a freshwater lake created by a major landslide.
The sight of pure white snow clinging to rows of pine trees, the scent of crisp mountain air and the panorama of the shimmering blue lake truly mesmerized. The wintry charm was enchanting indeed.

We had buffet dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was truly satisfying. The spread was excellent and most of the dishes were very delectable.
