Moscow: Cathedral Of Christ The Saviour

After relishing the resplendency of Russian architecture in Sergius Posad, we came back to Moscow in time to visit another imposing building.
Cathedral Of Christ The Saviour is stunningly immense.  It is the tallest orthodox church in the world with an overall height of 103 metres and has a seating capacity of 10,000. Made of white marble and granite and topped with shiny golden domes, this beautifully designed cathedral is indeed a picture of grandiose!

The doors and doorways are ornate and affixed to the outer walls are many statues depicting scenes of religious and historical significance. This cathedral looks like a heritage structure but actually it is relatively new being built only in the 1990s. The original cathedral was demolished in 1931 during the communist rule under Stalin and this present one is a very good replica of the first.
Cathedral Of Christ The Saviour is located at the bank of Moskva River which meanders through the city of Moscow. A pedestrian bridge connects this cathedral to the opposite bank. This elevated bridge makes a good viewpoint to see parts of Moscow bordering the river banks.

Here's What I saw From The Bridge

The incredible buildings of Kremlin!
